Kerwin Named to National Guard Youth Challenge Position
12/12/2022
HARRISBURG – Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin) has been named to the board overseeing the Keystone State ChalleNGe Academy, allowing him to provide mentorship to today’s youth using his own experiences as a legislator, civic leader and guardsman.

Keystone State ChalleNGe Academy provides Pennsylvania teenagers struggling in their school studies with an opportunity to work toward credits or GED completion in a residential program with military-style training.

“I’ve cherished the decade I’ve spent in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, where I’ve learned so much about responsibility and leadership. The Keystone State ChalleNGe Academy and its sister programs across the country with the National Guard Youth Challenge are making substantial differences in the lives of young people when they are at their most vulnerable,” Kerwin said.

Kerwin will serve as the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ appointee to the program, along with his colleague Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington).

A new class of cadets will begin the 22-week, tuition-free program at Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville starting in January.
