Kerwin announces $320,000 Awarded to Two Dauphin County Projects

December 19, 2025

HARRISBURG – Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin) announced two Dauphin County projects received a combined $320,000 in state grant funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

The CFA allocated $220,000 to West Hanover Township for improvements to Mt. Laurel Park.  The first phase of the project will include improvements to the parking area via the north parking lot, new community areas such as a gazebo and a flexible lawn space, a park loop trail, accessible exercise stations and other amenities such as benches, game tables and a bat house.

The remaining $100,000 is heading to Elizabethville Borough for the renovation of Elizabethville Borough Park. To increase public access to parks, renovations will be made to a gravel parking lot, two baseball fields, bleachers, two batting cages, storage and a concession stand. The project will consist of building an ADA-compliant asphalt parking lot, replacing one batting cage, constructing a new storage shed and implementing slope remediation.

“These dollars are welcome investments to the community as we pursue park improvements for all to enjoy,” said Kerwin. “Today’s announcement will benefit Dauphin County residents and provide recreational spaces for families. I look forward to continuing to secure state funding for vital projects like these in our district.”

This funding comes from the CFA’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program, which is supported by funds generated through impact fees on natural gas drilling. This initiative funds projects for planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open spaces and parks.
