Kerwin, Dauphin County Senators Secure Over $2.2 Million in Funding for Public Safety, Infrastructure Projects

DAUPHIN – Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin) today announced $2.28 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants were allocated to municipalities throughout Dauphin County to support a variety of public safety, infrastructure, rehabilitation and improvement projects.

“This funding helps address critical community needs and increases long-term stability for municipalities across the district,” Kerwin said. “I am proud to have worked with my Senate colleagues to secure this funding. These grant dollars will benefit municipalities while creating a lasting, positive impact on our local governments and all residents of the 125th District.”

Grants were jointly secured by Kerwin and Sens. Patty Kim (D-Dauphin) and Greg Rothman (R-Dauphin/Perry/Cumberland).

The approved projects and funding include:
• Dauphin Borough: $127,883 to purchase a new utility truck.
• Lower Paxton Township: $400,000 to replace outdated emergency radios with new radios for the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Fire.
• Lykens Borough: $150,000 for water tank repairs and to improve drinking water quality.
• Lykens Township: $165,900 to purchase a new backhoe and accessories.
• Middle Paxton Township: $400,000 to replace an outdated fire truck with a new fire truck.
• Millersburg Borough/Upper Paxton Township: $550,000 to make substantial repairs to Tanner’s Run Watershed.
• West Hanover Township: $350,000 for park improvements at Mt. Laurel Park.
• Wisconisco Township: $138,544 to purchase a new utility truck.

“This grant funding will strengthen local infrastructure, support roadway maintenance, and keep core functions of government running efficiently,” Sen. Rothman said. “I was glad to advocate for these investments, which will benefit taxpayers now and in the future.”

“Working with my colleagues in the House to secure this funding is always a privilege, and I’m glad to see these resources going to our first responders, municipalities, nonprofits and community groups,” Sen. Kim said. “This round of state funding is a clear reminder that when we partner together, we can achieve meaningful, positive results for our constituents.”

Local Share Account grants are funded through gaming revenues and are used to support economic development, community improvement and other projects that enhance quality of life for Pennsylvania residents.

The grants are approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency responsible for administering these grants and other state investments that promote economic growth, infrastructure development and community revitalization throughout Pennsylvania.
